Who can enter?

Writers under 14 on the 2026 reference date, living in one of the ten greater Hunter council areas.

What do you write?

A prose story with a beginning, middle and end; category word limits apply.

How to enter

Check age on the stated reference date and your council area, then use the Story Hunter entry form.

Planning placement only. The next edition, entry window and rules must be confirmed by the organiser.

Only the younger secondary ages qualify. Feedback is allowed in current rules, but substantial adult editing is not.

How our coaching works →

Students complete their own work. Coaching respects the organiser’s rules on feedback, editing and AI; where entry editing is restricted, teaching uses separate practice tasks.
